Need Dentures? – Gold Coast based Dentures Clinic

At some stage in your life you will need dentures, whether it is as a result of trauma, dental disease, malnutrition or drug use. Whatever the case may be dentures can help overcome the problems caused by missing a tooth or multiple teeth.

What are dentures?

Dentures are also known as false teeth or prosthetic devices designed to replace missing teeth that can be taken out and put back into your mouth. While dentures take some getting used to,

and will never feel exactly the same as one’s natural teeth, today’s dentures are natural looking and more comfortable than ever. Dentures are custom-made in a dental laboratory from impressions taken of your mouth. Your dentist will determine which type of dentures is best for you.

Why dentures?

Dentures are only required if one of more teeth are missing and there are many reasons why people choose to use dentures. Missing teeth can affect the chewing of food, the way you speak, your facial appearance and self-esteem. Dentures can help overcome all these issues.

Benefits

As stated earlier there are a large number of benefits to getting dentures. If you have missing teeth then dentures are the only way to replace them. They improve your looks, your self-confidence, your ability to eat and stay healthy and the way you speak.

Types of dentures

Dentures come in many types and designs. They are tailor-made to meet your specific need. There are 2 main types of dentures, partial and full. Your dentist will help you choose the type of denture that’s best for you based on your specific needs and the cost involved.

Partial dentures

Partial dentures are for patients who are missing some of their teeth on a particular arch. Fixed partial dentures, also known as “crown and bridge” dentures, are made from crowns that are fitted on the remaining teeth. They act as abutments and pontics and are made from materials resembling the missing teeth. Fixed bridges are more expensive than removable appliances but are more stable.

Full dentures

Full dentures are worn by patients who are missing all of the teeth in a single arch (i.e., the maxillary (upper) or mandibular (lower) arch).
